Since 2009 The Future Cities Institute has been partnering with Microsoft and local, regional and national governments to support the development of digital economies, improve engagement with both citizens and enterprises and accelerate innovation in local economies. 

Think Tank on Innovation - Gold Coast

t was great to host an Innovation Think Tank on the Gold Coast last week in conjunction with Business Gold Coast.    Great discussions on how to create an innovation precinct and really what attracts starts up to a particular area. Local government, industry leaders, innovation hubs, small business as well as academic were all representative and committed to a action plan designed to promote the Gold Coast as the place to do business. 

NZ Cities Summit 2012

This week  Malcolm Fraser, CEO of the Future Cities Institute will be chairing the NZ Cities Summit 2012 being held in Auckland, New Zealand. Looks like it’s going to be a great event, with a top line-up of speakers and discussion panels, including; Hamilton Mayor – Julie Hardaker, Tauranga Mayor – Stuart Crosby, Auckland Deputy Mayor – Penny Hulse, Ludo Campbell-Reid – Auckland Council, Rohan MacMahon – Crown Fibre Holdings, Louise Marra – Ministry of Economic Development and Brett O’Riley – ATEED…to name just a few.

Reconstruction efforts in Christchurch have been described as world leading following a visit from the World Bank – Cities Alliance and the Future Cities Institute recently. Visiting New Zealand from Washington DC to speak at the Futures Cities Forum in Auckland, William (Billy) Cobbett, Manager World Bank - Cities Alliance Group, and as well Cantabrian expat, Malcolm Fraser, CEO of The Future Cities Institute  took time out to visit Christchurch and met with the city’s reconstruction team.
