Why Jump Start ?

You know the challenges you face, you know why you need to innovate, you may even have some great ideas about solution for the region but working alone…doesn’t work

Come join us at the Jump Start Taranaki 2019 Workshop, and we will help build collaboration, co-create solutions, and identify how you can exploit technologies to solve some of the key issues wee face as a region.

Jump Start is an agile, rapid and effective accelerator that takes a design-led approach to crafting ideas for technologies to effect positive change for our communities, businesses, education and environment, that can then be shared, tested and potentially driven forward by collaborative cross-sector teams.

Why Taranaki?

The Taranaki region now finds itself at the forefront of some of the most innovative conversations about Aotearoa - New Zealand’s future as it hosts the Just Transition Summit and explores what Taranaki 2050 means as it leads the way in exploring what a low emissions economy will look like.

Why Now?

Our nation and our world have finite resources, and technology has the power to help us move to a more sustainable future.  Our time is running out to achieve these breakthroughs, so if not now, when?

As part of their commitment to the Taranaki economy, Venture Taranaki, Massey University, Microsoft, The Collaborative and BAF – Bishop’s Action Foundation have partnered to run a Jump Start Workshop to accelerate the adoption of digital technologies into primary industries, enterprise and communities across our region.

Cloud, the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data are all dramatically altering infrastructures, enhancing engagement with citizens, transforming industries and enabling communities to more easily develop enterprise solutions to local needs.

Critical to this transformation is the collaboration between businesses, higher education, community and government, which together can accelerate the creation and deployment of innovation across all sectors of an economy using a joined-up approach.

Jump Start is an agile, learn-able, repeatable and flexible framework which every participant can use to get things done collaboratively, while creating unique and measurable outcomes that benefit all involved, whether it be a commercial enterprise, social enterprise, community enterprise or indigenous entrepreneurship endeavour.  Jump Start comprises three sessions:

  1.  Art of the Possible: We look at key opportunities and themes for a region and then cast our eyes globally to see what’s happening with these themes in the 4th Industrial Revolution.

  2. Ideation: The Ideation session generates enterprising ideas to meet specific opportunities and core challenges that are best executed using a joined-up approach between local communities, industry, government and higher education.

  3. 90 Days: We then run a process of idea selection and viability testing to select one or two specific collaborative innovation projects that can be executed within a 90-day period to begin the journey.

Jump Start helps to emerge well-designed, well-governed, accountable, and impactful collaborations that can create collaborative and sustainable social and economic initiatives with potential to scale across Taranaki to maximise access to the benefits and opportunities technologies provide.

This workshop is a closed workshop provided at no cost and is limited to the first 45 registrants.

If you have a vision for technologically driven solutions to issues in Taranaki or see a great opportunity emerging through digital transformation and want to collaborate with others to make this a reality sign up today!

As this is a free event, please note that Jump Start partners support local businesses in the Taranaki and encourage all workshop participants to enjoy the fresh air of the city and explore the local cafés and restaurants for their lunch break, as food will not be supplied in the workshop.
